Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2015 GMC Acadia

Hi GMC owners, today in our 2015 GMC Acadia, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller. In addition to that, we're gonna be using Tekonsha's custom fit wiring harness to help it get plugged directly into our Acadia. This is a proportional controller, so as you hit the brakes in your vehicle and come to a stop, the inertia is detected inside the controller here. That's why it doesn't have to be in this orientation. And it will apply the brakes on the trailer behind you in a way that will make it seamless and smooth. So it applies those brakes to match the braking power of your vehicle. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 GMC Acadia we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller for one to four axles, part number 90885. In order to help us get it installed we're gonna be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers, part number ETBC7.Here's what our brake controller looks like fully installed. It's a proportional brake controller, which mean's it's gonna apply the brakes to our trailer in the same amount and intensity as we're applying the brakes to our car. Because there's an internal inertia sensor we're not gonna have to worry about the angle that we mounted in the vertical plane, but we are gonna have to mount it nice and level and in the direction of travel. Now the C on our controller's gonna let us know that our trailer is connected. The blue dial on the left here is gonna be for our power. Our power level's gonna go all the way from zero if I hit the manual override button so we can see it it's gonna go all the way up to 13. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2011 GMC Acadia

Today on this 2011 GMC Acadia, we're going to show you part number C51110. This is the Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller. On our install we'll be using parts of a towing package that's on the vehicle. One thing though, this does not have a total tow package on it, but there is some remnants leftover from the manufacturer of the vehicle, so we're going to fill in the blanks. To help us with our install, for the brake controller to plug in underneath the factory tow package underneath the dash, we'll be using part number C51422. This is the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers. more

Today on our 2010 GMC Acadia we'll be installing the Etrailer Universal Install Kit for Brake Controllers, part number ETBC7 in conjunction with the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885. In addition we'll be using the Draw Tite No Drill Mounting Bracket, part number 18136.We'll begin by installing the seven pole bracket onto our seven pole connector. We'll use the hardware provided with our install kit securing the bracket to the connector. Then we'll take the no drill mounting bracket and secure it to the seven pole bracket with the hardware that's included. Now before I install the bracket onto the vehicle I'm going to go ahead and take some black electrical tape and wrap up these wires.Note for our application we'll not be using the purple wire which is for reverse trailer lights so we'll go ahead and clip it off as it will not be necessary. We'll wrap it up all the way until our first connection point. more
